Patient Journey: Rhinoplasty
Age Range: 20-30
For most patients, rhinoplasty is about refining a nose they’ve never quite loved.
For this patient, it was about rebuilding a nose that had endured years of trauma.
A former boxer, he had taken countless blows to his nose throughout his career. Over time, the repeated injuries affected not only its appearance but also its function. He had previously undergone surgery in an attempt to repair the damage, but continued to struggle with both the way his nose looked and the way it worked.
When he came to our office, he wasn’t looking for a cosmetic transformation. His priority was restoring his breathing while creating a strong, natural appearance that fit his face.
During his consultation, we discussed the complexity of rhinoplasty after significant trauma. Years of injury and prior surgery had left behind extensive scar tissue, distorted anatomy, poor structural support, and a collapsed airway. Every reconstructive decision would need to be carefully planned to restore both form and function.
Together, we developed a surgical plan focused on rebuilding the foundation of his nose rather than simply reshaping it.
Using rib cartilage, we reconstructed the structural framework of his nose, restoring support, reopening the airway, and creating a balanced, masculine profile designed to withstand the test of time.
Cases like this require meticulous planning, technical precision, and an understanding that every nose tells a different story. There is no template for traumatic reconstruction. Every step is customized to the individual patient’s anatomy and surgical history.
Today, his result reflects far more than a cosmetic improvement. His nose is stronger, his airway has been restored, and his profile looks natural and proportional to his face.
